Things to remember when creating static content for Joomla…
When editing content in the Joomla CMS backend it is important to remember a couple of things:
One:If another user has checked out the content remember you have to go to your top menu bar, then click “system” then “global check-in.” This will make sure all content is checked back in to the system so that you may edit it. If the content you want to edit has a lock next to it then it means someone has checked out that content and is editing it. When you perform a global check all static content will be signed back in and whomever was editing content will lose what they have not saved. So be careful, if you are not the only with administrative access make sure no one is working on the file that is checked out.
Two:When you have created your content make sure that you link it to the proper menus. If you do not then you will not have a menu system show up on that page. Static content can be linked to menus with the box to the right. This box will be empty until you have created menu items to link it to.
Three:You do not have to delete content. Just unpublish it. I have found myself making the same mistake. I think that I don’t need a content section so I delete it. A day later I figure out I still need some of the content, but silly me has deleted it. If you simply unpublish it, it will have all the links and content you created but it will not show up on your site. This way if you want to add it you can always go back and publish it.
